Fun designs with shapes & lines

Over the last month or so I’ve been working on quite a few “basic” designs which I’m planning on using for multiple projects such as wrapping paper and laser cut brooches.

Although these designs come across as smooth and basic, I have spent a lot of time in illustrator just playing with the shapes and lines to come up with balanced, cute and original designs.

Here’s a sneak peak of a few of the things I’ve come up with so far.

Illustration Friday: gesture

It’s been a while… too long in fact since I have done an Illustration Friday entry. The topic this week is “gesture”, I’ve drawing a dumpling offering the sushi his soy sauce… what a lovely gesture that is.

Plushie fun

On the weekend, I decided it was time that I made something from one of the the books I’ve collect for crafty inspirations. I made a couple of plush toys from my Meet me at Mikes craft project book (by Pip Lilcone).

I have quite a few friends who are having babies this year and I want to make them all something similar for their new bubs. I’ve decided to go with this wonderfully simplistic little guy who was originally going to be a wheat-bag… then I decided he was way too cute to ever stick in the microwave… instead he might one day die of baby love and slobber… yay!

I’m very happy with his lovable little love heart nose which is my own original touch on the pattern.

Impossible pie

Impossible pie is quite possibly the easiest desserts I have made yet. A fond childhood memory reminded me to steal this recipe from my mum last week…  the hardest part was the drawing I thought I’d do to accompany this post.

I like the different layers that this pie magically creates – they are quite comforting… floppy bottom base, slightly eggy squishy insides and delicate cakey top bit. It’s also quite a nice light dessert.

Ingredients

4 eggs
60g butter
1/2 cup sugar
2 tsp vanilla
1/2 cups plain flour
1 cup coconut
2 cups milk (soy milk works great fyi)

Method

Blend together (with a blender or hand beaters) and bake for 1 hour  at 180 degrees celcius.
